Tutorial Tuesday: Customize a CK-12 Concept or FlexBook

Good morning beautiful CK-12 users! Today, we'd like to walk you through CK-12's coolest and most useful function: customization.CK-12 FlexBooks

CK-12 concepts and FlexBooks (online textbooks) are written to be engaging, educational and fun, but we know every teacher and every student is different. That is why we've made our FlexBooks and concepts 100% customizeable! Now every teacher can customize their online textbooks to fit their unique teaching style! And, like all CK-12 content and online textbooks, they are 100% free!

So, let's get started!

First, let's go over what a FlexBook is for those of you who are newer to CK-12. A FlexBook is a free online textbook that is fully customizeable and includes mutiple STEM modalities including, but not limited to: reading, videos, images, simulations, flashcards, study guides, assesments and real world applications.

You can create a FlexBook from scratch, but we'll save that tutorial for a future date. Today, we're going to go over the customization of an existing CK-12 concept or FlexBook.

To begin, you're going to need to have a CK-12 account (this is important for saving your online textbook). If you do not yet have a CK-12 account, please create one now

Ok, now that you're registered and signed into the CK-12 website, you're ready to begin. To begin the customization process, you'll need to choose one CK-12 STEM FlexBook or concept to use as your starting point. To prepare for customization, first make a copy of the FlexBook or concept. Making a copy will add it to your "My Content" tab.

Next, we're going to begin customizing your chosen FlexBook or concept. Ready?

We're going to cover concepts first. If you're only interested in FlexBooks, please continue below this section.
