CK-12 Wins "Most Impactful" Award at #Launch Education Conference
Three weeks ago, CK-12 Foundation co-founder Neeru Khosla presented an overview of the organization to a panel of technology experts and investors at the Launch Education & Kids Festival.
The event, held at the Microsoft Silicon Valley Conference Center in Mountain View, CA, highlighted innovative start-ups focused on both the K-12 and higher education markets. Games, networking and social media platforms, grading and feedback systems, and much, much more were put on display.
Companies ranging from Sight Words, which uses speach recognition technology to help students learn to read, to Roominate, which builds a wired dollhouse intended to encourage young girls to experiment with STEM concepts, showcased their potential to change the future of education.
Other companies, including Kidaptive, which provides a platform for "smart storytelling" on iPads, and STEAM Carnival, a modern traveling carnival seeking to inspire kids to learn in the STEM subjects, even managed to secure funding from investors at the conference!
But after hearing pitches from 21 amazing companies, the verdict was in: CK-12 was named the "most impactful" organization at the conference. Here are CK-12, we are humbled to have received this honor, and more motivated than ever to continue to provide as much high-quality, free, and flexible STEM content as is humanly possible.
